The Architecture of Loss

Grasping the Intangible We define "grasping" as the act of holding on. But this sculpture immortalizes a heartbreaking paradox: The moment we reach out is the moment we begin to let go.

"Ephemeral" does not depict a hand building something; it depicts the dissolution of the touch itself. From the solid, organic curves of the wrist, the form rises, only to shatter at the fingertips into fragmented geometric voids.

These cubes are not mere shapes; they are pieces of time drifting away—entropy captured in resin. The piece is a silent elegy to the human condition: our eternal longing for permanence in a reality that is fundamentally fleeting. It suggests that perhaps we are not solid beings, but temporary assemblages of memories and moments, constantly rearranging, constantly fading.

It stands there, stark white and silent, a reminder to honor the tactile present, for tomorrow, it may all dissolve into abstraction.

Material & Haptic Atmosphere

  • The White of Oblivion: The matte white finish strips away identity and distraction, reducing the hand to its purest, most universal form—resembling a plaster cast of a distant memory.

  • The Disconnect: The visual transition from the soft anatomy of "flesh" to the sharp, cold edges of the "void" creates a haunting tension. It is smooth to the touch, yet visually sharp—a contrast that resonates in a quiet room.

Curating The Void (Placement) This piece is available in two scales to suit the intimacy of your space:

  • The Intimate Fragment (Small): At 20 cm (approx. 7.9"), this scale is designed for private reflection. It belongs on a writer's desk, a bedside table, or nestled between books on a shelf. It whispers its story to a solitary observer.

  • The Monumental Void (Large): At 40 cm (approx. 15.7"), this commanding scale demands attention. It serves as a centerpiece for a console table, a plinth in a hallway, or a minimalist living room niche. Here, the disintegration becomes architectural, transforming the entire atmosphere of the room.

    THE ARCHITECT'S INTENT:

    MANUELA GUIDARINI

Every sculpture at The Soft Minimal is rooted in the vision of Manuela Guidarini (b. 1986, Italy), an Architect and Artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Manuela's work is a profound exploration of the relationship between geometry and mental stillness. Drawing heavily on her architectural background, her creations are deeply influenced by the interaction of geometrical grids, massing, and the artful balance of light and shadow.

She designs not for mere aesthetic display, but to induce the viewer in a state of calmness and stillness. For Manuela, fine art is the most natural way to communicate emotion and ensure every object we craft serves your emotional well-being and visual order.

    THE ESSENCE OF

    SOFT MINIMAL

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that beauty must serve your well-being. Unlike rigid minimalism, our approach informed by Nordic discipline and Japanese tranquility seeks to amplify warmth and tranquility through restraint.

Every sculpture is crafted not just to look beautiful, but to feel right. We honor the tactile effect of natural materials and the artful balance of light and shadow, ensuring our pieces act as a meditative anchor in your space.
